FAMILY RISK MITIGATION

As comprehensive financial advisors, we evaluate a client’s entire financial situation. In the chart below, listed are the core risk issues that can be addressed with the proper insurance strategy. Insurance can be very confusing, but at a fundamental level there are two types – temporary or term insurance, and permanent insurance (universal life and many others). Let Andrew help you navigate the path to solving your particular situation.

Disability Income Insurance

Protect your paycheck

Issue: Inadequate earned income protection

Solution: Obtain appropriate disability income benefit

Physician own-occupation disability insurance →

Long term Care Insurance

Protect your assets later

Issue: Inadequate protection for long term care costs.

Solution: Obtain appropriate protection with permanent insurance rider or lump sum policy.

Family Income Protection

Protect the people who depend on you

Issue: Inadequate family income protection

Solution: Base of permanent insurance plus supplemental term insurance.

Not sure which of these applies to you? That’s exactly what a policy review answers.

Common Questions

Questions people ask before booking

Look for an independent, credentialed agent — not one tied to a single insurer. Andrew Eddy is a CLU® life insurance agent based in Santa Monica who works with clients across Los Angeles and the Westside, comparing coverage across multiple carriers in person or by video.

Independent. Andrew isn’t captive to a single carrier, so he can evaluate policies across multiple insurers and recommend what fits your situation rather than what one company happens to sell.

Term insurance covers you for a set period and is typically the lowest-cost way to protect your income during your working years. Permanent insurance stays in force for life: whole life builds cash value, while universal life is more flexible — some policies are built for cash-value growth, and others, such as guaranteed universal life, are designed mainly to provide a lifelong death benefit with little cash value. Which one fits depends on what you’re protecting and for how long.

It depends on what you’d want a policy to replace — income your family relies on, a mortgage, education costs, or final expenses — minus the savings and coverage you already have. A common starting point is a multiple of your income, but the right number is the one tied to your actual obligations. A review puts a figure to it for your situation.

It depends on your assets, your family situation, and how you’d want extended care funded later in life. The risk it addresses — the cost of long-term care — can erode savings quickly. Some people self-fund; others use a dedicated policy or a permanent-insurance rider. A review tells you which approach makes sense for you. More on LTC insurance →

They cover different risks. Disability insurance replaces a portion of your income if an illness or injury keeps you from working. Long-term care insurance pays for extended care — in-home help, assisted living, or a nursing home — when you can no longer manage daily activities on your own. Many people need both, at different stages of life; a review sorts out which gaps you actually have.

Enough to replace the income your household depends on if you couldn’t work. Group coverage through an employer is often a starting point, but rarely sufficient on its own. The right benefit is sized to your earnings and any coverage you already have.

An online quote sells you a product. A Chartered Life Underwriter® evaluates whether that product is the right one — and how it fits the rest of your financial picture.

It’s a complimentary 20-minute conversation. Bring a policy you already own, a proposal you’ve received, or just your questions. You’ll get an honest read on where you stand and what, if anything, makes sense to do next — with no obligation.
